235 Rising Stars from four schools in Northern Uganda attended the national holiday boot camp at Lira Town College School in Northern Uganda. The camp wasn’t only a place for study, it was indeed a transformational life experience where the young women openly shared their key learning’s, reflected on who they are, performed songs and dances, recited poems and even challenged mentors and teachers about life, career options and sexuality.
The camp enabled the Rising Stars to refine their personal, academic and career goals to become SMARTER (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound, Exciting and Rewarding). The experiential sessions further equipped the young women with skills in community dialogue, budgeting and saving. The Rising Stars had a debating competition and confidently presented their school business plans and the community initiatives that they planned to do during the holidays.
